COFFEEBERRY™

History and Origin

C. arabica actually comes from Ethiopia and is thought to have been introduced into Arabia before the 1400s, Java before 1700, and the West Indies and Central and South America in the 1700s.1

COFFEEBERRY™ is the unripe stage of the coffee bean that is eventually roasted for consumption.

Components and Activities

COFFEEBERRY™ contains polyphenol anti-oxidants aiding in the prevention of the skin's cellular damage. In proprietary research, coffee berry extract had 10 to 15x the antioxidant capacity as green tea by the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC). 2,3

Its major polyphenolic components include:

  • Chlorogenic acid
  • Quinic acid
  • Ferulic acid
  • Condensed proanthocyanidins

Clinical Studies - Potential applications in skincare

Patients during clinical trials have seen a 46% decrease in the appearance of wrinkles and 64% improvement in the softness of the skin. Improvement was also seen in discoloration, dry and combination skin conditions.3
